SageView Foundation Spotlight: Akilah Institute

Through the SageView Foundation, we have the opportunity to partner with many localand international organizations focused on supporting women and children in crisisby creating opportunities for work and education.

As part of this initiative the SageView Foundation is proud to sponsor FrancineMukasine and Queen Mutoni, Business Management and Entrepreneurship studentsat the Akilah Institute in Kigali, Rwanda.

Francine and Queen were scholarship students at a ruralhigh school where they were at the top of their class, andwere selected to receive full scholarships for the two-yeardegree offered at Akilah.

Like in many other places around the world, schools anduniversities in Rwanda had to transition to remote learninglast spring. Despite challenges, nearly 90% of students atAkilah Institute were still able to successfully complete the2019-2020 academic year, a testament to the university’sand the students’ hard work and perseverance.

“It was my first time using online learning. At first it wasreally challenging because I had never done it before, but Ireceived support and help from my colleagues and itbecame easier to navigate,” said Queen.

Francine and Queen have recently returned to in-personlearning and are on track to graduate later this year!

We are privileged at SageView to be a part of finding solutions for those in need.

Our focus for the Foundation is in two areas:

  • To meet the needs of women and children in crisis by providing healthcare and educational opportunities
  • To promote micro-financing initiatives that bring sustainable change to both local and international economies

We advance our mission by coming alongside other organizations what provide relief and hope.
