Stop Hunger Now started its meal packaging program in 2005. Each six-serving bag produced by volunteers includes rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix with 23 essential vitamins and minerals. Each meal costs only 29 cents and has a shelf life of two years.
It is an immensely fun, hands-on and rewarding experience for anyone of any age. A group of 40- 50 volunteers can package 10,000 meals in just two hours. Countless congregations, civic organizations, corporations and schools have enjoyed organizing and participating in a Stop Hunger Now meal packaging event.
The Kansas City Regional Office was inspired by the teambuilding event at the SageView National Conference decided they wanted to share the experience with family and friends and set up their own local event in June.
Stop Hunger Now meals are nutritiously sound. Every dehydrated rice/soy meal is fortified with 23 essential vitamins and nutrients. Research has shown that one in three people in developing countries are adversely affected by vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Addressing the problem of hunger is the single point where we can leverage relief for all humanitarian issues.
