August 2014

In an effort to support our local community, SageView Irvine partnered with the Orangewood Children’s Foundation for the third year. This was a two part volunteering opportunity. We collected over 50 backpacks and school supplies in the office and on Tuesday, August 12th volunteers went to Orangewood to stuff the backpacks.

For over 30 years, Orangewood Children’s Foundation has worked to end the cycle of child abuse and they do this through programs that support children, teens and youth ‘aging out’ of the foster care system. To give you an idea of the impact they are having with our youth, Orangewood provides close to $1,000,000 in college scholarships every year. For younger children they provide funds for little league, music lessons or any activity to help ‘normalize’ their childhood. Orangewood teaches independent living skills through workshops, and also offers a transitional housing program and provide mentors to any child or youth who desires this relationship.

Additionally, the Orangewood Resource Center is open daily to help in any area of need including food, clothing, and job seeking support. All Orangewood programs work together to help these deserving young people to not just survive, but thrive.
